Technology helping to improve service!  

Bouygues Energies & Services have adopted a new collaborative approach to enhance the level of service they offer their clients. An approach, that allows the design team and construction team to easily synchronise with each other enabling them to deliver the project efficiently, accurately and on time.  

Their philosophy has always been to take a collaborative approach on their cleanroom, industrial plant, and data centre projects, allowing all teams to work together alongside the client. Today, they have innovated that approach by incorporating an industry 4.0 method to their build stage.  

On one of their current cleanroom projects, they have included a 3D model viewing station. The digitised cloud-based system is designed to assist the onsite construction team to reference the drawing as a guide, allowing complete transparency for both the designer and builders.  

Mike Pughe, Bouygues Energies & Services, Senior CAD Engineer, said: “The system is linked to our cloud document management system that stores the latest drawings and 3D models, available for the onsite team to reference and collaborate. A focal point for the site team that promotes collaboration between the different trades developing a fresh & unique team spirit on site.” 

In a modern era, this is a great way to incorporate digital technology on site during the build stage. Not only does it allow the construction team to reference the drawings but also enhances decision making during the construction. In addition, the clients gain an unobstructed vision on the project advancement. This collaboration creates a trusted partnership between the client and Bouygues Energies & Services. 

“The cloud-based application is user friendly and quick to master. The ability to see what you’re installing reduces ambiguity, increases productivity, and reduces stress. This creates an enjoyable and more collaborative atmosphere on site.” Added Mike. 

Incorporating digital technology in the cleanroom building stages the benefits are endless, it ensures the project is delivered as planned on time and clients are continuously informed on the progress. The platform brings an added dimension to data sharing between all stakeholders involved on the project.  

Austin Fox Bouygues Energies & Services, Project Manager explains “I have noticed a significant difference onsite; the station has allowed the site team leaders to plan the project much better, plan next area to be installed or to route minor services & bracketry not detailed in the model, knowing what they install will not affect other services installed in the future.”  

It also has other benefits for the team on site. “The site management team can also use the station for site inductions, safety briefings, taking snippets for the detailing of method statements and risk assessments,” explained Austin.
